So for those of you who don’t know me, my name is Florencia, I am 27 years old and I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I’ve always had a passion for photography. I was -that girl- who carried her little camera everywhere and shot nice photos of all her friends. At 15, I took a photography course for a year and loved it, but my curiosity led me to try other things.
When it came time for college, I considered studying photography, but my family said, "You can't make a living from that." (as we have all heard so many times) So, I pursued Psychology instead.
During this period, I gained valuable experience working for a makeup brand, where I honed my skills in marketing, social media, and content creation. Today, I see how this helped me with launching my own photography business and gave me the tools to help fashion and lifestyle brands with their visuals.
After two years, for different reasons, I wasn’t having the best time in this career path and I started to feel the urge to explore the world. So that’s how my partner and I ended up living and working in Australia for the past 4 years.
Our journey was not without its challenges; the pandemic hit shortly after our arrival. Yet, amidst the uncertainty, we found ourselves working on Hamilton Island, a breathtaking haven in the north of Queensland. It was during this slow time that my passion for photography reignited.
Even though I took a few courses that gave me all the tools to start my photography career, it wasn’t until the start of 2023 that I decided to leave my hospitality job and move to Sydney to build my portfolio.
I spent almost a year in Sydney, and I have to say, it exceeded my expectations. I met amazing people, from models to fellow photographers and other creatives, I made connections that I know will last a lifetime, I got to work with some of the best modeling agencies, I worked with beautiful brands and made friends with their owners and most importantly I found my photography style.
This “Sydney chapter” Is what I want to share with you in this Diary (and the many chapters to come).
Florencia
